- Please do not amend the site’s “Layout” or “Style” settings.
- Try to keep page content within the size of screen – ie avoid the need for visitors to scroll up/down. Split the content across several pages if necessary.
- The left side bar is visible on all pages but is small: its content should usually be made up of a few high-impact words (+/- image) with a link to a new page where fuller content can be
displayed.
- Except for pages in the “more...” section, mark all subpages as “not visible”, and link to them from within the main content of pages. This avoids using the site’s subpage listing display (which
is not visually obvious, and displaces the content of the left side bar).
- Ensure the page list across the top of the page is only one line (in “page view”).
- If you make create content on one page but want to move it to a another, drag it onto the left side bar, go to the page you want, and then drag it back from the left side bar onto the main page
area.
- Keep a copy of all files and pictures that you add to the website in the BMP Website Assets folder.
- text formating on the site is very limited - but you can create complicated formating within word and then "paste" it into the website text boxes (this is how the "directory" table is done.
To edit it, open the source Word version (in BMP Website Assetts), edit it, then copy and paste it in, deleting the previous online version).
- Start each page’s content with the title of the page – as a “Heading” type 1 (dark blue). Title all subsections on a page using “Headings” type 2 (light blue). See below.
